Deer Hunting 2007

Hunters - Uncle John arrived on Sunday afternoon, Duane of course, Mike and his boy Brian "text" Severson, Ward and Steve.  Mike and Brian beat us up there by just under an hour.  I had to call dad and tell him to hold Mike off from going out to check out his deer stand as he usually does every year when he gets up.  I had been up two weeks before and had suggested to dad as a joke that we put a broken TV and antenna on Mike's deer stand since he used to bring his portable TV with and watch that rather then hunt, but the one year he forgot it, he got a deer.  Anyway below is what Mike found in and on his stand this year.  Next year Mike is going to have to come up and build a phone booth for Brian.  He probably sent 300 text messages when he was suppose to be looking for deer.  Seriously.  What up??  LOL... Well as of half way through deer season I haven't heard from dad so we must not have gotten one yet.

Deer Hunting 2006

Hunters - Uncle John, Duane, Mike and for the third time Brian, Ward and Steve.  Ward and I arrived Friday around 4:30PM.  Uncle John and dad had been socializing for a couple hours before we got there so they were feeling happy.  Mike and Brian got there around 6 I believe.  I video taped some of John and dads stories from the past.  Anyway on opener I shot a button box buck that walked right under my stand at around 4PM, just before dark.  I had to wait till it came out, then as I was pointing my gun at the deer it turned around and looked at me, had to let the hammer go. Dad came down and said it was a rabbit....The next day, Sunday dad was up in John's stand with Ward when he spotted a deer.  Since he was looking out the window he shot it, another button box buck.  You can see his deer on the left and mine on the right, guess dad got a rabbit too.... Here are pictures I took from my stand.  There are squirrels hiding in the scenery pictures.

I also can add that I went up the last weekend with Tanner and Coltin.  Mike the beaner who's idea it was to go up, backed out.....  Dad and I walked around quit a bit on Saturday, ended up over by Joes cabin, and we knew Joe Jr. was up, but he wasn't around, so we helped ourselves to a beer (around 2 - 2:30 pm) and then another, and another, then Joe finally showed up.  So we just talked and drank more beer.  Went out again Sunday and sat most of the day, dad did some walking and he jumped a couple but didn't get a shot off because of his double safety on his gun.  Here are also pics of Fritz's 30-30 and John's 32

Ward got a deer opener (last weekend in MN) in WI.  Cost him $160, but still worth it for that first nice buck.  He said it was rubbing up on a tree when he shot the tree and deer.  Nice deer man.  He's holding out on where he shot it.  Looking at the picture he may have shot it in the bun hole, with its back legs stretched out as to say (Yeow) :-)

Deer Hunting 2005

Hunters - Uncle John (left on Saturday because of his sisters death (sorry John)), Duane, Mike and for the second time Brian, Ward and Steve.  On opener around noon Duane shot a doe right behind my deer stand in the pines.  That evening Mike shot at a deer, it was near dark when a buck came tearing out of the woods behind Steve's deer stand and it stopped, long enough for Steve to shoot.  Nothing on Sunday Mike and Brain left for home.  Monday didn't see anything.  Ward and I saw a huge buck behind dads after dark, this was on Sunday night, thing was like 14pts.  Dad saw it too last day of hunting after he had just came in.  Smart buck.  Have to start taking more pictures....

Deer Hunting 2004

Hunters - Uncle John, Duane (dad), Mike and for the first time his boy Brian, Ward and Steve.  Mike and Brian left by Sunday night.  Duane wounded a doe on Monday just before noon.  We did jump it one more time under Mikes old deer stand (it had been laying there 30 ft away at most, Ward had even climbed up in the deer stand and looked around.  It was dang near underneath him).  Steve pointed and fired at her twice when she got up of course he (I) can't hit a moving target.  Dad did phone us Tuesday to tell us he got a six point buck.  Here are pics.

Deer Hunting 2003

Ward got his first deer since he was 15.  This was the second year Ward was up hunting with us. Ward also hadn't gutted a deer for a long time.  We were MORE then happy to TELL him what he needed to do.  He was having a heck of a time holding on to that pecker and of course we told him traditionally you have to wear the pecker around your neck the rest of the day :-)   He didn't go for that one....
